Wasn't sure where to put this or what title to use
Jeff , I don't know if this site will or can be helpful ... I will let you decide and post and title it .. It is something I am looking into to try and see if it is possible to get a recall on some of the problems people are having with their trucks ... Such as : Calipers locking up and overheating the entire front brakes and wheel assy. ,,, Power steering hoses blowing out are the 2 I have submitted to them .
Hopefully others will file complaints to them and maybe something can be done . https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/ |

If you burn out a headlight and change it, it still may not work. The lights are not fused but there is a control relay in the circuit board under the fuse box. Depending on how the bulb went out it can cause the relay to trip and not reset. On the 06 this is a $700 part that the stealer will gladly change and charge you for. What most of them don't seem to know is that with the proper scan tool it can be reset up to 4 times before it's gone for good. Around $50 bucks for a stealer to reset it.

RAM SRT-10 is not listed, searched a bit under RAM 1500, but no SRT-10 VINS

I've never had a caliper lock up or have had a power steering leak. There's a time when all parts will fail. I personaly dont see the need for a recall on any of these items. These trucks are now getting to be 8 years old.

I bought rebuild kits for my calipers over 3 years ago and have not installed them due to the problem being intermittent ... One side at a time locks up and makes the wheel and tire so hot you can't even touch them .. Smoke starts to roll from the brakes before you even know it is happening. It makes me wonder what the real damage is .. Calipers , rotors grease in the hubs, heat stressing the metal in all those areas ... The reason I have not rebuilt them is because after it cools down the brakes start working fine for who knows how long. but it happens again , this time on the opposite side. Then it is fine for another who knows how long maybe 6 months , a year and it repeats again ...This is a problem . I have never seen this happen on any other Vehicle ever ! The power steering hose are in my opinion and many others a defect from the factory, They all tend to leak in the same area . Safety concerns are that there will be a lose of steering and possibly control of the truck ... Yeah I see a need for a recall before someone gets hurt or killed . If it hasn't already been the reason for some of these trucks being wrecked. |
